How reservations work: the 60-second version.

30 Sep 2026 · By the OwnStakeX team

You found a project, you like the numbers, you click "Reserve". What happens in the next few minutes — and the next few days — is worth understanding, because a reservation is a precise instrument, not a casual click.

The 60-second version

When you confirm a reservation, three things happen instantly: the platform reduces the project's available units by your quantity, assigns you a unique reservation reference, and starts a visible countdown timer. During that window, nobody else can take your units. That is the whole job of a reservation — a time-limited hold.

What the timer means

The countdown is the funding window: the period within which your payment must arrive and clear. It exists for a simple reason — fairness to other investors. Without it, one undecided buyer could freeze inventory indefinitely while serious buyers wait. If the timer expires before cleared funds arrive, the hold lapses automatically and the units return to the pool. No penalty, no ownership, no ambiguity.

What a reservation is not

A reservation is not a share, a title deed, or a claim on the asset. It creates no ownership and no right to distributions. Ownership begins only when three things coincide: cleared funds, signed documents, and legal issuance in the project's register. The reservation is step one of that chain — important, but only step one.

How to reserve well

  • Reserve only what you are ready to fund. The timer is real and it does not negotiate.
  • Use your exact reference code on the transfer — it is how the treasury team matches your money to your hold.
  • Read the document version linked on the reservation screen before you confirm; that version governs your terms.
  • Watch the countdown in your dashboard — reminders are a courtesy, not a guarantee.

A reservation is a promise with a clock on it. Treat it with that seriousness and the rest of the process — funding, signing, issuance — runs smoothly. Capital at risk. Educational content, not financial advice.
